Definition of Terms
- Substance Abuse Assessment/Treatment:
Provide substance abuse assessment for
juvenile offenders to determine need for treatment. Provide outpatient
individual and/or group therapy to juvenile offenders targeting substance
abuse issues, including chemical dependency, alcoholism, and habitual or
experimental use of other controlled substances.
- Sex Offenders Assessment/Treatment:
Provide outpatient assessment and/or
therapeutic services to juvenile offenders targeting inappropriate sexual
conduct and offending behavior with clear focus on rehabilitation and
accountability of the offender.
- Home Based Family Services:
Provide short term, intensive services with the
entire family to prevent delinquent and undisciplined behavior.
- Counseling and Crisis Counseling:
Provide individual, group and crisis
counseling for juvenile offenders to help them learn to solve or better cope
with their individual problems. May include cognitive skills and life
skills.
- Restitution/Community Service:
Provide
a program to hold juvenile offenders accountable for their conduct. Accountability
includes work service or
monetary compensation for the victim or the community. Services should be
provided for court diverted and adjudicated youth.
- Psychological Assessment/Testing Services:
Provide psychological assessment,
testing and staff consultation by licensed psychologist for court diverted
or adjudicated youth.
- Group Home:
Provide residential placement lasting six to eight months in
a
therapeutic or structured family-like environment. Include intervention
with the client’s family during and after placement and target a reduction
in offending behavior and recidivism.
- Mediation/Conflict Resolution:
Provide a mediation program offering
immediate and short-term involvement with youth to focus on negative and/or
offending behaviors with the aim of resolving the presenting problem.
Services should be provided for court diverted and adjudicated youth.
- Parent Responsibility Classes:
Provide a parenting skills development
program including communication and discipline techniques. This service may
include sessions for parents only and/or parents and their children.
Services should be provided for court adjudicated and diverted youth.
- Emergency Foster Care:
Provide emergency foster care for diverted and/or
adjudicated juveniles who need to be temporarily removed from their home
during a family crisis.
- Guided Growth:
Provide a structured service plan of learning or recreational
activities aimed at improving each participant’s self-esteem, social
consciousness, personal enrichment, and personal growth and development.
