Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is the process for application and review? Applications may be accessed through the website of the Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (www.juv.jus.state.nc.us). Applications must be submitted by the date and time published on the request for proposals (Friday, February 5, 2010 at 5:00 p.m., 2010). Late or incomplete applications will not be considered for funding. The Caldwell Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) will review all proposals submitted. New applicants will be given an opportunity to make presentations at the Mandatory Bidder's Conference: on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the Catawba Co. Social Services, Hickory, NC. Email jcpcbcc@embarqmail.com Funding decisions are based on the availability of funds; priority needs as listed in the Request for Proposals; quality of services; cost per unit; and approval by the Caldwell County Board of Commissioners.
  2. Where does the money come from? The funds originate from the State of North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. Programs are expected to meet the standards, performance criteria, and client tracking requirements of that agency.
  3. What is the funding cycle? The funding cycle is on the fiscal year, July 1 through June 30.
  4. Is any cash match required: The program requires a 20% cash match and/or in-kind local match. The local match can be made up of in-kind space, staff, transportation, supplies, etc., or funds from local government or private funding sources.
  5. Is there anything else I need to know: Please refer to the Program Agreement checklist for a comprehensive list of requirements for the application.
